Here it is, a short of four months out, and your Steering Committee is working on all the details to make the third iteration of Hands Across Louisville a reality. Our Logistics team is finalizing our approval for our location at 32nd Street with the city and the police department. We are busily seeking sponsorships, making tee shirts, finding performers, signing up speakers. It will again be a wonderful day to join all the neighborhoods of Louisville, finding ways to reach across invisible boundaries, to work for peace, unity, and equity in the city.
The first change we'd like to let you know about is that we'd decided to have the Interfaith Prayer Service for Unity and Peace at 10 am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. We will celebrate the talents of the community, joining in song, speech, and action to end the violence from 11 am to 1:30. Then we will join hands up and down Broadway from 2:00 to 2:30 pm. TARC is again donating free busses to travel up and down Broadway. You can park near St. Martin de Porres Church for the events and take the busses to your assigned block for the culmination of the day's activities, and then return. Or you can park near your assigned block, then take the bus to the events, and return to your block at the end of the events for the Hands Across Louisville climax. In any case, mark the day Saturday, May 19, in your calendar. This year will be the best yet! Trish Ramey, Hands Across Louisville co-chair |
