Louisville suffers from many divisions; some neighborhoods suffer more poverty, more inequities, more gun violence. Louisville United Against Violence seeks to change that through one-on-one actions at the neighborhood level.
Every year we also have one big event -- an interfaith prayer service for peace; a rally with speakers that tell the possibilities to end the violence and decrease the inequities; we claim blocks along Broadway, and we join hands to show our unity in offering peace to one another and to seek justicefor all. |

What do we do? |
Where we are |
"... do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with your G-d..." Michah (Micah) 6:8
"... So vie with one another in doing good deeds." Qur’an 5: 48 "Radiate boundless love towards the entire world." Buddha, from Karaniya Metta Sutta. "... be mindful of your duty, and do right. God loves the doers of good." Bhagavad Gita 6.41 Our group is comprised of many different religious faiths, but this one thing we share -- we will work together to do good. |
We are wherever we need to be in the city, but our efforts focus on communities most impacted by poverty and violence in West Louisville. Our membership draws from throughout Louisville, from all people who care about correcting the long-standing inequities imposed on West Louisville. We hope that our efforts to highlight the good in these communities as well as to work against the bad will make a real difference.
